SYDNEY –26 April 2018 – Tech Data (NASDAQ: TECD) today announced that it has achieved ISO/IEC 27001 certification for its Australia-based Private Cloud environment and support operations. ISO/IEC 27001 is an Information Security Management System (ISMS) standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The ISMS standard provides a systematic approach to managing sensitive company information so that it remains secure. It encompasses people, processes and IT systems by applying a robust risk management process.

Security management is critical in today’s evolving business environment and can bring severe consequences if not addressed with comprehensive digital strategies. In 2017, the total average amount an Australian company would pay as a result of a data breach was estimated to be AUD 2.51 million[1].Organisations need comprehensive solutions and reliable partners that enable them to be more secure, protect their data, their customers, and their business.

After careful consideration following a successful six-month audit examining Tech Data’s information security standards, policies, procedures and controls in Australia, the British Standards Institution awarded Tech Data ISO/IEC 27001 certification, acknowledging its ability to deliver world-class quality, security and efficiency in its Private Cloud environment.

“Security is a key issue facing our industry and Tech Data takes the protection of data and networks extremely seriously,” said Wendy O’Keeffe, country general manager, Australia and New Zealand at Tech Data. “We have made this important investment in time, management and resources to ensure that our business meets the ISO certification standards, demonstrating our secure and sustainable offering for our partners. But it doesn’t stop there; we’ll continue to evolve our policies and procedures to address the ever-changing security landscape to ensure we can deliver best-in-class services and solutions to our partner community.”
